Coach's / Alumni Circus at Circus Juventas available on DVD

As many of you know, Saturday, April 17, 2010 was World Circus Day. In celebration, Circus Juventas hosted a benefit show for our very own, Chimgee Haltarhuu and her mission trip, Mission Manduhai. Chimgee is one of our most advanced aerialist coaches, and is currently planning a mission trip to her home country, Mongolia, later this summer. Chimgee’s mission trip comes from personal experience with mental and physical abuse, which she still is suffering the affects from. The mission trip is to raise awareness during circus performances in rural Mongolia about the problem and affects of domestic abuse. The group will travel to the far reaches of Mongolia where there are no billboards, no television, no electricity—and not even any running water. Circus Manduhai will put on free shows for the nomadic herders, and partnering with National Center Against Violence (NCAV) in Mongolia, they will give the nomadic people a strong positive message—information about how women can get out of a dangerous situation, and resources to help them to a better life.
She is bringing her own circus troupe, Circus Manduhai, which includes herself, who does some amazing foot juggling and hula-hoop work, her son, Tamir, who is a CJ alumni who performs juggling, unicycle and hand balance, as well as her brother-in-law and fellow coach at Circus Juventas, Mostapha and his son, Anwar who do a handstand/acro act. In addition, 2 other hand balance specialists, Eric and Alex will be joining the group. Also participating in the trip are aerialists, Marissa and Sarah, as well as world renowned “Lippi the Clown”. They will be joining up with 3 Mongolian circus artists when they arrive in Mongolia in late August.
On Saturday, April 17, 2010, performers from around the country donated their acts to a benefit show for Chimgee and Circus Manduhai. It was an amazing event. There were Circus Juventas alumni, contortionists from Las Vegas and Chicago, as well as traditional music from Mongolia. All of the proceeds went to Mission Manduhai.
We are currently selling DVDs of the performance for $15, and all of the proceeds go to Mission Manduhai. If you would like to purchase a DVD, contact Maria Balogh at balo0021@umn.edu. Shipping will be free. Donations toward the expedition are also greatly appreciated. Checks can be written out to Chimgee Haltarhuu, and write “Mission Manduhai” on the memo line. They can then be sent to:
