A Representative of Cirus4Youth Visits with the Kids on the Kelly Miller Circus

Meet Gerard Rosales

Eleven year old Gerard Rosales is a youth circus star on the Kelly Miller Circus that performs with his family on the high perch pole.  This brave circus performer sits atop the double perch pole near the top of the circus tent.

He told this reporter that he needs to practice his routine 30 minutes a day.  He calls Hugo, Oklahoma home which is the location of the winter quarters for Kelly - Miller Circus.  When not performing in the circus or practicing his act, he enjoys his skateboard and playing socer.  He said that he doesn't have a computer but that he will check out the Circus4Youth site when his mother takes him to a library.  Ravioli is his favorite food.

Meet Zhang Sai

13 year old Contortionist Zhang Sai is from Bejing, China.  She does not speak
English, so we were unable to do an interview with her.

Meet Brett Michael

17 year old juggler Brett (Rosales) Michael is a 5th generation circus performer.

Seventeen year old Brett Michael says that he was taught his juggling skills by his father, Julio Rosales.  Asked about training required to keep the act sharp Brett said, "I practice 2 - 3 hours per day.  When I practice I try to keep a routine going for over one minute, that way when I am in the ring performing, the same routine lasts about 30 seconds.  I like to keep it simple.  Many will tell you that the trick makes the juggler, but in my opinion the juggler makes the trick. It takes style to be good".

Brett practices 2 - 3 hours a day, while his act is only a few minutes long.

Brett calls Hugo, Oklahoma home.  In addition to his juggling act, Brett manages the Snake pit show on the midway.  He likes comedy and action movies but says that his favorite movie is "300 Spartans".  Pizza is his favorite food.  He likes to ride his skateboard and play socer.  He hopes to attend college in another year at Fort Smith, Arkansas.

A colorful circus semi trailer.  Little doubt that the circus is in town when these vechicles
pull onto the local circus grounds.
